Mature Reading

My son was the youngest in his class in kindergarten. He went on to first grade, but the teacher was skeptical about whether he would be able to progress from there or not because he was immature compared to some of the other kids in his class. He had begun a phonics program before he ever started school so despite his immaturity, he was doing very well. His attention span was shorter and he got bored easily, but his test grades reflected that he was a very smart child. I told her I would not hold him back because of immaturity, someday that would catch up to him.
