How Does Windmill Electricity Work?
It is a pretty simple concept to change wind into electricity. To create windmill electricity the wind hits some curved blades which are attached to a shaft. As the blades move, the shaft turns. At the bottom of the shaft is a generator. The faster the shaft moves, the generator also turns eventually creating electrical power. For a home electric generating windmill, the blades do not need to be as big as the ones the big power companies use. Some homes may use two small or medium sized windmills for electricity to run all the appliances in the home. Placed strategically, this could cut energy costs by as much as 75%.
